We will admit it was gorgeous,
the Hope Diamond.
On our museums tour in Washington, D.C., we visited the stunning Hope Diamond at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
But what was even more stunning was the exhibit behind the diamond (right side of photo). We were surprised to find the most beautiful piece of sandstone dancing in the corner on a motorized, revolving platform. Spotlit from above, light made dramatic twists and turns down the piece as it spun.
It was anthromorphic. It was addictive to watch.
While crowds fought to see a glimpse of the Hope Diamond, we watched the exhibit behind it for over 15 minutes. If only we had brought our sketchbooks. Another visit is in order since the entire gem and mineral exhibit is completely enthralling.
